Marriage Licenses are easy to obtain in Tennessee.  Simply appear in person at any County Clerk's office, or one of the Marriage License Centers in Sevier County.  Both parties must be present in person.  Proof of age is required by a valid driver's license or, another state-issued I.D., a valid passport, or certified birth certificate. You do not have to be a resident of Sevier County to get married here.

Couples may also bring a marriage license from any county in the state of Tennessee.  Remember, licenses are only valid within thirty days from issuance.  If applicants are under age 18, both parents or legal guardians must sign the marriage certificate.

No appointment is required at the Sevier County License Centers.  Cost is $45.00 for out-of-state residents, which must be presented only in cash in the exact amount.  Out-of-state residents please note: your marriage license cost less in Sevier County than any other county.

PLEASE NOTE: Recent Legislation has made Tennessee Residents subject to an additional fee for a marriage license if they have not had certified marriage counseling.  Check with your County Clerk's office concerning this matter.

  Effective 11/1/05 - Sevier County Clerk will begin accepting MASTERCARD AND VISA.
